New Camera

Image
We bought a new Sony Cyber-Shot camera a year and a half ago.  It takes o.k. photos, but doesn't do so consistently and has a huge delay between snapping the shot and the photo being taken.  It is so hard to catch Calder smiling since he started cruising around.  I felt like I was missing all the cute moments.  Needless to say, I haven't been happy with the Sony for the past 6 months, so last week I finally broke down and bought a new camera.  I shouldn't say "bought".  I used my Air Miles to purchase it!  After checking out reviews, I decided on the Pentax K-X.  The reviews for the couple cameras I was considering were basically the same, so the fact that the Pentax had HD video was the deal maker for me. I have a lot to learn about my new toy! There are more buttons than I know what to do with.  I figure the best way to learn is to start shooting, so that's what I plan to do! I have also shot some video, but will have to do some reading on how to get it on

Helmet #3

Should I even bother mentioning this anymore?  I think it is safe to say that my son either bruises extremely easily, or takes an absurd number of tumbles on any give day.  I am inclined to think it is the latter. He received his first shiner at Kerri's on Friday.  He got in a fight with the corner of the toy box. Saturday, I was folding some laundry in our bedroom and Calder thought it would be fun to pull our duvet off of our bed.  I didn't see the harm.  He tugged a couple of times and didn't get much of a result.  This is when he decided to lean into it.  He still didn't get a result, but this time his momentum swung him 270 degrees, head first into the corner of our wood bed frame. Sunday, Hugh was putting on Calder's jacket and used a bit too much force with our little wobbley pop.  Calder tipped back and hit his head on the wall.  He bounced off of the wall and started falling forward.  He then tripped on his shoe and fell to the floor, head first.

Hugh has started parking on the driveway to make room in the garage for my new wheels.  The salesman did a  fabulous job on pitching to me it's terrific paint job and detail, comfy seat, retro tires and smooth 3 speeds. Ahhh....are you jealous?  I have gotten numerous stares (obviously good:-) and even a couple of compliments during our first few rides. Ever since our trip last summer to Jasper I have wanted a cruiser bike.  Everyone was riding them there, so my logical reasoning led me to believe they must be the "cool" bike to have!  Hugh and I went looking for bikes on Saturday and found a cruiser at Walmart.  It was forrest green.  Very nice, but not one bit pretty.  We decided to look around before I was "stuck" with that one.   We then made our way to Doug's Spoke and Sport to get Calder his Chariot and helmet.  The Chariot was a bit pricey, but you can get different attachments for the front and it retains it value fairly well compared to other

Week in Review

One week ago today, we celebrated Easter and Calder's baptism.  It was a LONG service, clocking in at just under 2 hours.  The grandma's commended Calder's superb behaviour, but they were clearly blinded by Calder's cuteness.   He was a BEAR.   It started with a super short nap in the morning and continued with him slapping Hugh in the face repeatedly during the naming ceremony at the back of the church.  Once we got to the front of the church, Calder continued his reign of terror.  We were seated in the front row and Hugh was standing holding Calder so that he was facing the congregation.  Calder was fussing, fighting, moaning and groaning, so in an attempt to make him happy, I pulled out one of his favorite toys, a matchbox semi.  He ripped it out of my hand, pulled his arm back above his head and fired it toward the masses.  Lucky for us, his arm hasn't been fully developed yet and it went straight down into my chair.  It ricocheted off the chair and was launc
